Date: 08-11-2023 17:00
Location: Sala dos Conselhos
In conjunction with the nucleus of the central region of the Portuguese Association of Political Economy, which begins its Cycle of conferences-debate “Political Economy in the Center: great challenges for the Region”, the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior carries out a round table debate on the theme of growth versus degrowth from a territory crossed by the tension between industrialization and deindustrialization.
The panel is made up of academics with diverse research paths in the broad spectrum of humanities and social sciences, contributing, from their angles of vision, to a comprehensive approach to the problem of prospective challenges for Covilhã from these two crossroads, the of a reality of deindustrialization in a city in the interior with a distinctly industrial past, and of a choice of paradigms in which growth as a response to development is opposed to the challenge of a decreasing response to development.
