PRAXIS - Center for Philosophy, Politics and Culture is the successor to the Institute for Practical Philosophy (IFP) – a research unit established in 2003 at the University of Beira Interior by José Manuel Santos. Later, it expanded to include the University of Évora, fostering a philosophical community that has thrived together ever since.
Between 2015 and 2017, this group of researchers from both universities was integrated into a larger structure primarily focused on communication sciences – Labcom.IFP.
Finally, in 2020, the former IFP team established a new research unit, PRAXIS – Center for Philosophy, Politics and Culture, maintaining its two geographical poles and its dedication to practical philosophy, especially in the fields of ethics, politics, phenomenology and culture.
