Surfaces – Uses and Meanings in Our Time is an interdisciplinary colloquium that explores contemporary uses and meanings of surfaces, drawing from the various places of knowledge and experience that we bring. There may be transitions, crises, or revolutions that challenge the way we think about and live with surfaces. These questions can come from philosophy, architecture, design, music, mathematics, and other fields, as well as from intersections between them.
The colloquium, an initiative of the FAL and FE presidencies, also aims to promote collaboration between the two faculties around the ideas of art and technology. This connection holds strategic value, and we hope this event will initiate a more sustained practice of cooperation and co-creation.
