Diogo Vieira Ferreira

PhD Student

Diogo Vieira Ferreira graduated in European Studies and International Politics from the University of the Azores. His final thesis focused on the political history of the former Yugoslavia. However, his main areas of interest were the Political Organization of the European Union as well as Regionalism and Regional Policy in European regions.

He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Aveiro, specializing in European and International Politics. His dissertation is entitled "Second-Order Elections? Analysis of campaign materials for European elections during and after the Euro crisis (2009-2019)."

Currently, he is a PhD research fellow in Political Science at PRAXIS – Center for Philosophy, Politics, and Culture at the University of Beira Interior, in consortium with the University of Aveiro, funded by the FCT. His research focuses on the study of European political parties and the institutional and democratic mechanisms of the European Union.

Additionally, he is a member of POLMEDIA_EU, the Jean Monnet Chair, whose project aims to promote European values in the interior of the country. He was Portugal's Ambassador for the European Student Think Tank and participates as a speaker at conferences organized by the Portuguese Association of Political Science (APCP), the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), and various higher education institutions in Portugal. He writes opinion articles for the Diário dos Açores newspaper and scientific blog articles for ECPR The Loop.
