Paulo Antunes
He graduated in 2012 from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon (FLUL) and completed a Master’s in Philosophy Teaching in Secondary Education in 2014 at the Institute of Education, University of Lisbon. He obtained his PhD in Philosophy from FLUL, as part of the Centre for Philosophy of the University of Lisbon (CFUL), funded by an FCT scholarship (SFRH/BD/116938/2016). In December 2021, his dissertation was awarded the highest grade (A on the ECTS scale).
During his PhD, he was an associate member of CFUL, contributing to the Praxis Research Group, and a member of the Political Studies nucleus (nepUL) associated with that group. He co-founded the FLUL Philosophy Students’ Association, in collaboration with the FLUL Students’ Union (AEFLUL), and participated in various research initiatives.
Paulo Antunes also serves on scientific committees and editorial boards and acts as a reviewer for prestigious journals, including Sport, Ethics and Philosophy and Co-herencia. He co-organised the proceedings of several international conferences, has been invited as a guest speaker, and taught modules in Political Philosophy at the University of Minho (UMinho).
With over 40 published articles and numerous conference presentations, his academic output spans a wide range of contributions. A selection of his most relevant works is presented below or can be found in his CV.
In 2024, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship under the project The Public Interest: A Politico-Philosophical Investigation (EXPL/FER-ETC/1226/2021), funded by the FCT and hosted by the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society (CEPS) at the University of Minho. At CEPS, he was an integrated member and co-organised panels for the prestigious Braga Meetings.
He is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of the University of Beira Interior (FAL-UBI, Covilhã), teaching Theories of Justice, Ethics and Politics, Aesthetics and Criticism, and Contemporary Philosophy. He is also a member of the Portuguese-Language Association for the Philosophy of Sport (AFDLP).
