Bruno Ferreira Costa

Associate Professor (Praxis/UBI)
Completed his PhD in Social Sciences, specializing in Political Science in 2015 (University of Lisbon). He holds a master's degree (2009) and bachelor's degree (2006) in Political Science from the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas. His academic career earned him two scientific awards. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Beira Interior and Researcher at PRAXIS - Center for Philosophy, Politics and Culture.

He has published several articles as author and co-author in specialized journals. He is the author of two books, editor of two books (one national and one international) and author/co-author of 11 book chapters, having supervised 25 Master's theses.

Since 2023, he has held the Jean Monnet Chair POLMEDIA_EU – Political Systems, Political Participation and Media in the European Union (https://polmediaeu.com) and led the project The composition and impact of liberal governments in the context of the European Union. He is also a researcher for the COST Action CA21129 (2022-2025) – What are Opinions? Integrating Theory and Methods for automatically Analyzing Opinionated Communication (OPINION).

Works in the area(s) of Social Sciences, with an emphasis on Political Science. In its Science Vitae curriculum, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural production are: Abstention; First and second order elections; Electoral participation; Political participation; Political system; Democracy; activism; representation; political parties; political communication. He is a member of APCP, SOPCOM and MPSA.
