Patrícia Oliveira earned her PhD in Political Science from the Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP-ULisboa) in 2019, with a dissertation titled “Political Culture in Portuguese Documentary Film (1974-2012),” supported by a doctoral fellowship from the FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology).
She is an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University and an integrated researcher at LusoGlobe – Center for Research on Global Challenges. Previously, she served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Philosophy, and Culture at FAL-UBI (2022–2024) and as a Visiting Professor at Sciences Po Paris (Poitiers Campus) between 2012 and 2015. She is the Vice-Coordinator of the Political Observatory and has served as the Associate Editor of the Political Observer – Portuguese Journal of Political Science since 2010.
Her scientific production is interdisciplinary and diverse, featuring publications indexed in SCOPUS, SciELO, Latindex, ERIC, and PLUS, aligned with the specific impact factors of her field. She has participated in numerous national and international conferences (including the USA – Seattle, New Orleans, Berkeley; Canada; Brazil; Spain; France; UK; Slovenia; and Mozambique – Beira). Her international profile includes teaching networks (Sciences Po Paris; Georgia Tech, USA) and mobility programs (AULP and ERASMUS+).
Patrícia Oliveira’s research focuses on political aesthetics, cultural practices, and media and digital literacy aimed at the democratization of the political system. Her work aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs – 2030 Agenda), promoting open and citizen science as well as a more inclusive and diversified scientific culture.
